Many thanks for supplying a new Centinel Security Post for our trailer following an abortive attempt by some miscreant to unsuccessfully remove it.

Despite a sustained attempt to remove the post from the ground, resulting in much damage to the lock area and other places, the post stubbornly refused to be moved despite the use of a jack!

As such, it is disappointing to be ordering a new post for our trailer, but so much better than ordering a new trailer!

Billing Aquadrome Pleasure Park

In my position as Projects Manager for one of Britain's largest leisure parks, it is rare for a new product to prove as good as is claims by the manufacturing company.

The CENTINEL Post has proven to be one of those products that is as good as it claims!

My Husband and I run a storage caravan site in Shefford, Beds.  In the middle of August the site was left unattended for 45 minutes.  In this time, thieves tried to steal three caravans.  On checking the caravans later, we found one fitted with a well known Hitch Lock and the other a popular Wheel Clamp - both devices had been smashed off.  The only other thing protecting our site was a Centinel Security Post positioned in front of our main gate.  An axe or similar was used to attack the lock on the post (see picture) - on failing with this, a vehicle was used to ram the post and the gate - this also failed!  If it had not been for the Centinel more caravans would have been on that, ever increasing, "stolen" list.

As promised, This is a photograph of one of three posts protecting a forecourt.

What happened took place within the space of approximately 3 minutes - a white flat bed 7.5 tonne lorry, stops in front of the entrance. There are three men in the van, one remains in the drivers seat, one jumps out and runs towards a parked vehicle, the third - holding a chain - runs towards a Centinel Post and proceeds to wrap the chain round the head of the post.

The man with the chain shouts to the driver and the lorry starts to move.  There then follows a loud bang and the chain rips through the head of the post and ......leaves the Centinel firmly locked in place!

This whole episode was witnessed by over 7 office workers in the next building - on an Industrial Estate in Northampton.

Ease of use

The lock is integral and fitted at the top of the security post – simply locate and lock.

Peace of mind

The lock is graded CEN 5, this is the highest E.E.C. security rating, drill and pick resistant with a restricted profile key-way, this means the key cannot be copied by any other locksmith.

When you turn that key, an ingenious 10mm thick laser cut steel cam is located into what has to be the most highly engineered locking block on any security post available today. No pressure is placed on the lock itself.

Add to that, the fact that the Centinel C1 Security Post is the only post with a 5mm wall thickness that is fitted on the diagonal, in effect this means that in a ramming situation, the Centinel C1 security post is equal in strength to a wall thickness of over 10mm. Less weight – greater strength!

  • MAIN UPRIGHT: Cold formed hollow section 60x60x5mm to BS 436D\43\A - locking rod 12mm diameter steel to BS 970 1991 part one.
  • TOP SHROUD: 3mm steel, all seams fully welded, height 855mm, installed height 675mm.
  • LOCK: AP2000 High Security cylinder, rated CEN5 highest EEC security rating. Restricted profile, drill and pick resistant. Cylinders can be keyed alike.
  • FINISH: All outside surfaces shot blasted, bottom 300mm of post protected by hot non-ferrous metal spray to prevent rust. 2 pack etch primer applied to all surfaces. Post is then polyester powder coated and cured at 200 degrees.
